Weather was sunny, slippery boardwalks. Did you need a detailed map. West of West Sombrio Bluff: Expect hours of negotiating mud if its rained at all, calm and warm on day.The China Beach Trailhead area spawned weekenders with coolers and heavily-loaded backpackers. There are often minor re-routes because of bad weather. Lachlan I did it in June. I'm glad I did the whole thing to learn about great overnights or day trips, but I wouldn't repeat the whole trail again.
The BC Parks map also includes information on these cut offs. Avoid this trail in rainy weather and rainy seasons. Forest entrances were well-marked with orange floats hanging from trees! Just incredible.
Why We Like This Hike
The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until October. There are six established campsites along the Juan de Huan Marine Trail. It was a great workout, and the trail was almost completely dry. The Juan de Fuca Marine Trail is ideal for day hikes.

Juan de Fuca Provincial Park on the west coast of southern Vancouver Island offers scenic beauty, spectacular hiking, marine and wildlife viewing and roaring surf in its course along the Pacific coastline of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. A major feature of this park, the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail, is approximately 42 kilometres of wilderness trekking along the rugged shoreline. The hike normally takes days. There are no services along the route - travellers should come prepared for the remote experience. Backcountry passes for camping must be purchased from BC Parks. Please do make a note of the 6 locations shown on our map of "high tide cut offs".

The views are great and our campsite at WSB was amazing.
