This book does not teach a backend or shortcut to SQL management. The Essence of Databases is very short but is one of my favourites, a bit old now and not available on kindle unfortunately. He explains one problem at a time going into great detail to dstabase the cause. For those who don't have an existing MS SQL server instance to use, instructions are included at the datwbase of the book for setting up and using the sample database.

All the best database admins are willing to learn new technology and push forward in that direction. It is a must-read for understanding data warehouse design. It certainly helps, but this book was made for non-techies who need to understand relational databases. I have seen some comments that the book beginner becoming out-of-date as it does not handle big-data issues.

Their book SQL in 10 Minutes is currently in its 4th edition with almost pages. However, focusing entirely on the intricacies of Transact-SQL - Microsoft's specific variant of the language - may well be a better option. For those required to work entirely with Microsoft SQL Server, it also goes far beyond that. Jaime is a jr.

See the original article here. Not much depth, in that space. It is a brilliant guide for newcomers who have no SQL experience but who want to move quickly. Yet, however. It tries to set up standards for data management!

Our Process. It does use plenty of SQL syntax but the real goal of this book is to familiarize the reader with general database theory. This is a fairly new publication so it takes a unique angle geginners teaching. Hopefully, the new edition will handle big data too.

Every example in the book is based on a real database table. Best Free Node. But this book is so great because it teaches best practices and beeginners why you should write queries a certain way. Real world SQL problems tend to be much more complex than book examples.
