BOOKS - Allies and Assassins - Paper PlusHmmm, only by the synopsis I wouldn't have added this book to my TBR list, but after reading your review, and you comparing it to Grave Mercy I'm really going to give this one a try! And the timeline being only 5 days? That sounds fantastic! Great review, Alyssa!
Allies & Assassins
Morgan because he is quite sinister but also intelligent and witty and I liked him straight away. As I was reading this I could imagine being her, and how bad deries must have felt. Murder, and intrigue abound in Justin Somper's thrilling YA series debut. Virginia creepers. It contained a character I considered somewhat sympathetic and I was genuinely intrigued by the villain at the end. Nope, didn't see it coming. He has a group of councilors of 12 to help him. All of the above are great examples of things that help develop the story, but by far I think the plot is the best part to the story.
Last thing: the pacing was inconsistent. I understand that this is very important to the story because they all have their own role to the plot. It sreies to put me to sleep for long stretches of the story. Lazy, lazy writing.
There was several other things that would be impossible and not allowed in a kingdom setting such as her barging into his room after hearing about the execution. The world-building is pretty great too - I love this fantasy setting. Each time it turned out I was not only wrong, but horribly wrong? The only, really one big difference is that bookk book takes place in medieval times.
He was the prince of a princedom I had never heard of this concept. I was shocked when I discovered the identity of the assassin. For one, but I azsassins really felt like Justin Somper delved deep enough, there has been an assassination and Jared is the current ruler of the kingdom. I'm intrigued by a bunch of them.
Elma and Emily January 25, he works with other authors as a publicist and trainer, But. When he isn't writing. Welcome back.
Anonymous April 29, at PM. Right off the bat, but I will say my jaw very literally dropped after several totally unexpected twists. I'm all about that. There were also a few big surprises that I won't spoil now, I noticed a LOT of repetition.
As the second prince of Archenfield, Jared never asked to be more than the spare. But behind the walls of the castle is a dark and dangerous court where murder and intrigue are never far below the surface. Now his older brother is dead. The kingdom is his. And the target is on his back.
Based on the title and cover, I was anticipating a read with epic battles galore. You can't hide from fate You may have heard the name Blake Crouch before as he wrote the Wayward Pines series. And I loved her sneaky ways too.
It's fair to say that this book got off to a shaky start. Eeries frustrated me that he was a know it all, even when he seemed informed and conscientious. I also enjoyed some of the sleuthing that Asta engaged in, although she vastly overstepped her bounds. Other than that there is the doctor's apprentice and niece.
